LexiThompsonLPGA Commissioner Mike Whan approved a petition filled by Lexi Thompson requesting that a rule requiring players to be at least 18 years-of-age in order to join the tour.  The 16 year-old Lexi Thompson, who Whan described as "a unique talent who already has shown maturity handling success and failure," is expected to join next year's LPGA tour.

The 16-year-old from Florida finished with a two-under 70 on Sunday to finish at 17-under 271 and win the Navistar LPGA Classic in Prattsville, Alabama, by five strokes over Tiffany Joh.

LPGA Safeway ClassicThe LPGA Safeway Classic returns next week at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland, Oregon.

It will be the 40th consecutive year that the world's top women professional golfers have competed in the pacific northwest city.

So Yeon RyuAt the 66th US Women’s Open, two young Koreans battled it out in an enthralling three-hole playoff, with 21-year old So Yeon Ryu besting compatriot Hee Kyung Seo by three strokes. The 25-year old Seo held the lead going into the 18th, but Ryu sunk a 5-foot putt to force the first playoff since the three-hole format was introduced in 2007.

PettersenNo. 2 ranked Suzann Pettersen narrowly beat No. 4 Kristie Kerr at the Sybase Match Play Championship on May 22, her first victory of 2011. Suffering from a cold for most of the week did not seem to slow her down, as she lifted the trophy and brought home $375,000 of the $1.5M purse.
