News General South Korea Will Host 2015 Presidents Cup

2015 Presidents Cup in South Korea announcementPGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem announced on November 16 that the 2015 Presidents Cup will be played at a course in South Korea.  It will be the first Presidents Cup to be played in Asia.

K.J. Choi, K.T. Kim, and Y.E. Yang appear next to Commissioner Finchem for the announcement on Wednesday.  The 3 South Korean golfers are playing in on the international team led by Greg Norman in this year's Presidents Cup in Melbourne, Australia.

The South Korean golf course that will host the event has not yet been chosen, but a formal announement of the selected course is expected to be made in 2012.  Commissioner Finchem said that several courses in South Korean have expressed a desire to hose the 2015 event and that selection process has begun.

The 2013 Presidents Cup will be played at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

Finchem said at the press conference, where he made the announcement, "We are delighted to be taking The Presidents Cup to South Korea in 2015.  The growth of the game in Asia is well documented, and the fact that we have three South Korean players on the International Presidents Cup Team this year illustrates the strength of golf in that country -- which is only going to get stronger in the next four years. Each Presidents Cup has been bigger and better than the one before, and I'm confident South Korea will serve as the perfect stage for the event when it enters its 21st year."
