Delaware recently welcomed back the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) for the first time since 2005. Cripple Creek Golf and Country Club, located near Bethany Beach, DE, hosted the AJGA Preseason Junior Tournament on May 5 & 6, 2012. The event featured 96 players from ten different states and four countries.

The House of Representatives has voted to bestow the Congressional Gold Medal upon golfing great Jack Nicklaus.

After passing the House on April 16, the legislation must now pass through the Senate before the honor becomes official. If the Senate votes in favor, Nicklaus will be the first to receive the honor since 2010 when it was given to Japanese-American World War II veterans.

Joe Steranka, CEO of the PGA of America, will step down from his position at the end of 2012.

Steranka, in his seventh year serving as CEO, announced his retirement April 11. A search committee will be formed and Steranka’s successor is expected to be in place by Dec. 31, his last day of acting CEO.

Jerry Rice’s latest attempt at playing professional golf ended in much the same way as the previous ones: with disappointment for Rice and mixed reactions from the public.
