Putting

putterWhen facing long putts, you want to give yourself a realistic chance to make the next putt. Try to imagine a circle around the hole about 3 feet in diameter. Practice hitting lag putts to improve from long distance. A lag putt is a longer putt which a player does not expect to make. A good lag putt positions the player to have a simple putt on the next stroke. The lag putt typically stops short of the hole.

put1When golfers are interested in lowering their score, the first place they should go is the practice putting green. While most golfers enjoy practicing with their driver, in reality they only hit a driver a maximum of 14 times a round. However, they will spend somewhere between 30 to 45 strokes on the putting green. This could easily account for 50 percent of your score. Therefore, reducing your score by 5 strokes on the putting green is your best bet to lowering your score.

PuttersPutting has caused golfers problems for generations. It is the most difficult skill a golfer can learn, and it usually determines a player’s final score. You may be able to drive over 300 yards consistently, or you may be able to chip from any surface; but if your putting is suspect, your round will suffer. Sometimes putting problems are simply a result of a lack of practice, but for some, frustration on the green is a result of the putter itself. Here is a guide to choosing the right putter for you.
