The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa at St. Andrews has been named 'Scotland's Leading Golf Resort' at the 2011 World Travel Awards, held in Turkey earlier this month.
This is the seventh time since 2004 that The Old Course Hotel has won the award as the very best in Scotland.
The Old Course Hotel, located on the iconic 17th Road hole of the Old Course at St. Andrews, with 144 rooms including 35 suites, beat out strong competition from the likes of Gleneagles and Turnberry.
Resort general manager Daniel Pereira said, "It is such an honour to be named Scotland’s Leading Golf Resort in the face of such fierce and highly regarded competition.
"St Andrews already has a fabulous reputation for golf. We strive to be the very best – where VIP is standard for all of our guests – so to be recognised in this way is a real testament to the hard work and efforts of our entire team."
World Travel Award votes are cast by 213,000 travel professionals including travel agencies, tour and transport companies and tourism organizations in over 160 countries.
