Nick WatneySacramento, California native Nick Watney has had a year to remember so far in 2011, as the 30 year old maintains the FedEx Rankings No. 1 spot. Known for his smooth and technically sound stroke, Watney’s current form has made him a favorite at the British Open on July 14-17.

Yani TsengWhen you think of young golfers who have dominated the sport, names like Tiger Woods and Annika Sorenstam come to mind. But now, there is a new name to add to that list. Yani Tseng, at the tender age of 22, has become the youngest golfer in history to win four majors after her impressive victory at the LPGA Championship in late June. But her dominance fell short on the 11th of July, when she failed to win her first Grand Slam at the US Open.

Rory McIlroyThere has been only one name on the lips of golf pundits and fans as of late, and it is hard to wonder who that is: it’s Rory McIlroy. And for good reason; the 22-year old has taken the world by storm. His record-breaking performance at the US Open in June has created comparisons to a young Tiger Woods, but without the glamour and troubled social life. Without jinxing the young Northern Ireland native, whispers of greatness can be heard at most golf courses around the world.

Ochoa_229-year old Lorena Ochoa is considered by many to be the greatest Mexican golfer in history, and arguably can be listed amongst the best female golfers thanks to her stellar seven year career. Although retired, Ochoa still maintains her LPGA status in case she ever decides to return to the game.

Bubba WatsonKnown for his crushing drives, 32-year old Gerry “Bubba” Watson continues to rise in the Rolex World Rankings over the past two years, moving up from 54th in 2009 to an impressive 8th the following year. Arguably the best active lefty on the PGA Tour today, Watson currently ranks 10th in the world so far this year, with 839 points and over $1.7M in winnings.
